Overall Foot Care
Dr. Abe provides overall foot care for thousands of bay area patients. From bunions and ingrown nails to major ankle and foot surgery, Dr. Abe has been providing podiatric care for over 20 years.
Custom and Silicone Orthotics
Orthotics are orthopedic devices designed to tread and adjust foot disorders. Misalignments in the foot are best treated with custom orthotics specifically crafted to meet the needs your needs. This is done by molding an impression of your foot with casting materials. The impression of the cast duplicates any misalignments in the foot.
Because perfect feet are very rare, almost anyone can benefit from orthotics. They can be utilized for preventive and corrective care. Orthotics are placed inside the shoe allowing for proper alignment throughout your work day and exercise schedule. Diabetic Therapeutic Shoes
One of the most common complications of diabetes is a loss of feeling or sensation in the feet. This lack of feeling puts people with diabetes at risk for skin breakdown, ulceration feet. This lack of sensation effects over 80,000 people with diabetes each year. Therapeutic shoes protect and support the feet, helping to alleviate the problems that may arise.
Will Medicare cover the cost of therapeutic shoes?
The Medicare Therapeutic shoe program provides coverage for 80% of the cost of the shoes. Medicare does not cover other conditions such as arthritis.
Who is eligible?
To be eligible, patients with Medicare must be under the care of a physician such as Dr. Abe for their diabetes. Dr. Abe can then prescribe therapeutic shoes for medicare patients who are entitled to one pair of shoes per calendar year.
